North County Transit District
Organization overview and procurement intelligence available on paid plans.
The agency is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding a Bus Destination Sign System that integrates directly with its Computer–Aided Dispatch / Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) platform. The goal of this Request for Information (RFI) is to identify available technologies, evaluate possible integration methods, and guide the planning of a phased procurement and deployment strategy.
The desired system should interface with additional onboard equipment such as annunciators, automatic passenger counters, and vehicle-based logic signals including door open/close events. Sign content must be synchronized with assigned routes and trips, adaptable to operational changes like detours or short turns, and harmonized with onboard annunciation and other passenger information systems. A key requirement is seamless integration with Conduent platforms.
Vendors are requested to provide details about available sign types—including front, side, rear, and interior displays—and the corresponding display technologies. Cybersecurity and system integrity are essential; responses should address how communications between CAD/AVL systems and onboard controllers are secured, the protection of over-the-air updates, and methods for controlling and monitoring system access. The intended contract period is one year, with all vendor questions due no later than April 30, 2026.
