DESCRIPTION
The government authority in Minnesota is seeking a qualified bookkeeping professional or firm to provide bookkeeping and financial management services. The selected vendor will support the accounting needs of a community media organization operating within a joint powers and governmental oversight structure.
Scope of work includes maintaining accurate and current general ledger records, processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciling bank and credit card statements monthly, and maintaining supporting documentation for all transactions. The vendor will also assist with implementation or optimization of accounting software, track franchise fee revenue and restricted-use funds, establish and maintain fund accounting practices where applicable, and distinguish between restricted and unrestricted revenues.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring expenditures against approved budgets, providing variance analysis and recommendations, reviewing and improving bookkeeping systems and workflow, and strengthening internal financial controls and segregation of duties where feasible.
