DESCRIPTION

The government authority in Albany, New York seeks a vendor to provide biological monitoring services for oyster implementation as part of the Living Breakwaters Project. Oysters will be introduced into the ecosystem in two phases during the summers of 2025 and 2026, utilizing both in-situ (direct setting) trials and installation methods.

Monitoring is a mandatory requirement under the project's regulatory permits and is an integral element of the Adaptive Management Plan. The scope includes evaluation of approximately 30 million oyster spats, with primary research areas focusing on Growth, Mortality, Recruitment, and Epibenthic Community Utilization. Data gathered will help inform real-time adaptive strategies, including options such as re-seeding or disk replacement, to support the long-term ecological success of the restoration effort.

The resulting contract will be for a five-year term. All vendor questions must be submitted by May 18, 2026.
