American Biochar Institute
Organization overview and procurement intelligence available on paid plans.
A vendor is sought to design, develop, launch, and provide initial support for a biochar suitability tool, representing the first phase in the development of the Biochar Atlas digital platform. The project will begin with a kickoff, discovery phase, and will require a concise, aligned work plan. Vendors must address information architecture and UX/UI design for the initial Biochar Atlas presence, including the home page and a limited number of methodology and resource pages related to the tool.
The primary deliverable is a desktop-first, public-facing suitability tool that supports both map-based and form-based workflows. The solution will integrate agency-provided data sets, including soil and biochar materials data, as well as suitability logic. Vendors are expected to provide hosting and deployment support for a full production version, a staging and beta environment, and manage launch support, analytics, user and admin documentation, basic admin workflows for data refreshes, and post-launch maintenance and bug fixes.
Additional features include scenario evaluation to compare biochar options and application rates, as well as the ability to evaluate combinations of biochar and compost. Candidates should propose a maintainable, modern web architecture and demonstrate relevant experience with similar geospatial, decision-support, or public-facing web tools. Proposers should also identify any proprietary components they expect to use and describe their approach to UX/UI, hosting, deployment, maintenance, documentation, and project handoff.
