SUMMARY

USACE seeks industry input for a levee construction project in the Atchafalaya Basin, involving levee raising, access improvements, and erosion control.

DESCRIPTION

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, is seeking industry input for a planned construction project titled Atchafalaya Basin Construction – Bayou Sale East West Tie-In. This initiative involves constructing approximately 0.5 miles of levee along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway under the LA-317 bridge and tying into the existing ramp and drainage infrastructure.

Key project components include raising the levee to an elevation of 10–15 feet (NAVD88) using about 19,500 cubic yards of borrow material, improving access roads and haul routes, constructing levee embankments, slope grading, ditch improvements, realigning access ramps, and conducting site clearing and grubbing. Additional work includes implementing erosion control measures such as silt fencing, and performing site preparation and compaction activities.

This effort is designed to enhance the levee grade and stability in the Atchafalaya Basin area. Industry responses will assist in shaping the acquisition strategy for this upcoming contract.
