This comprehensive, user-friendly solution will serve as a centralized repository for aquatic survey data, including scanned PDFs of paper field surveys and voucher specimen photographs linked directly to the relevant records. The database is critical for supporting conservation and recreational research efforts by external aquatic scientists and government agencies.
The system is required to be delivered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering, available 24/7 year-round except for scheduled maintenance periods. It will utilize a Microsoft SQL database with over 100 related tables and views, supporting robust data quality standards, error correction, and revalidation to ensure data integrity. The new platform is expected to replace outdated interfaces, providing a modern UI/UX developed according to current industry best practices. This initiative aims to safeguard long-term data accessibility and improve the efficiency and accuracy of aquatic data management in Colorado.
