Active Transportation Strategy Service

The Township of Ontario is seeking a qualified consulting firm to develop a comprehensive Active Transportation Strategy. This initiative aims to promote safe, equitable, and comfortable alternative transportation options for residents, tourists, and visitors. The selected consultant will be responsible for producing a strategy that establishes an active transportation network, identifies appropriate infrastructure types, and prioritizes routes and connectivity to support both short- and long-term municipal planning goals.

Key components of the project include conducting a digital inventory and assessment of existing active transportation infrastructure to identify network gaps and maintenance needs, and facilitating a robust community and stakeholder engagement program. The consultant will engage various groups such as residents, Council members, agency staff, special interest groups, businesses, and schools to ensure broad-based input and support. The final deliverable will integrate research findings, community feedback, and best practices into a strategic plan, along with clear guidance for strategy implementation.
